How It Works

Missouri's progressive tax applies marginal rates to each bracket of income. The brackets are narrowly spaced, each covering roughly $1,200 of income. Missouri allows a deduction for federal income taxes paid, which can lower your effective state tax rate. Social Security benefits are not taxed for most residents.
