About Arizona's rates

Arizona uses a flat 2.5% state income tax rate (reduced from 2.98% in 2023 and 3.5% before that, following a series of phased reductions). The flat rate applies to all taxable income with no progressive brackets. Combined with relatively low property taxes, Arizona has become one of the more tax-competitive states in the West.

Planning note

Arizona's 2.5% flat rate is one of the lowest among states with an income tax. Compared to California's 13.3% top rate or even Colorado's 4.4%, Arizona offers significant income-tax savings for high earners. Note that local taxes are minimal.
